When my sister told me that she was moving to Colorado, I was intrigued. She and I had not had a chance to catch up in a long time, so it was surprising to learn that she was going to be moving to another state. She said that she had been looking at apartments for Colorado Springs CO people and would not have any roommates, but she had met a guy who lived there and she wanted to the chance to live nearer to him and continue to pursue the relationship. It was then that I felt guilty about not keeping up with her more often.
My sister and I are the only people alive in our immediate family. We had a brother when we were much younger, but he passed away when he was just a toddler. We never met either set of our grandparents, as they had died before we were both born. We didn’t know my dad, and by the time that we found him when we were adults, we had learned that he was no longer alive. Our mom died of cancer when we were both eighteen years old. So the two of us are the only family members that we each have, and it made me sad that we had not been keeping in better touch.
I love my sister with all my heart and I know she loves me too. We had a phone call that day, and she caught me up on a lot of things going on in her life. We talked about the guy she is dating, and she has invited me to come visit her at her new place. I can’t wait to meet her new guy and to spend some time with my sister. We have promised one another that we will talk more often.
